Message from the organizing committee
Throughout the life of humanity music has played various roles in society. One of the important benefits music grants to people on earth is to revitalize ones mind and body. Music has been used medicinally throughout the ages in both the Eastern and Western world. However, the formalize knowledge and research of the therapeutic use of music and medicine is new to some Asian countries. The International Association of Music and Medicine was founded in 2009 with the aims to promote an integrative perspective to applied music in health care.

Pursuing an ambitious vision including the dissemination of high level research through the IAMM journal Music & Medicine published by SAGE and gathering a worldwide membership base, the IAMM offers an immense capacity for directing attention towards the integration of a wide range of research initiatives and contemporary practices in the uses of music in the healthcare arena.

It is my pleasure to host the 2nd International Association for Music and Medicine conference in Thailand with the aim to stimulate and encourage the use of music as medicine among the people of Thailand and others throughout Asia. This conference intends to create a climate of scholarly exchange between the East and West as well as broaden and deepen the knowledge base of the field of music and medicine. I am privileged to chair this conference and hope that apart from all participants learning and sharing Music and Medicine knowledge we can establish collaboration between East and West to strengthen our music and medicine network for the sake every mankind.
I would like to thanks all supporters, sponsors, colleagues and staff for their essential support and ongoing efforts in making this conference a reality in Thailand in 2012. I am confident that the therapeutic use of music will benefit a wider range of our collective humanity in our near future.
